The Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposes to simplify the issuance of Russian tourist visas to foreign citizens
Dear clients, we'd like to inform you that the Russian Foreign Ministry has introduced a draft law on the simplification of the procedure for issuing Russian tourist visas to foreign citizens.
According to the bill, amendments are planned to be introduced in the Federal Law "On the Procedure for Departure from the Russian Federation and Entry into the Russian Federation". In particular, to exclude from it the clause on issuing a visa to a tourist if he has a confirmation of admission from a Russian tour operator (tourist voucher and confirmation). According to the authors of the bill, this measure has become unnecessary.
Under the new rules, for obtaining a visa to Russia, it will be enough for foreign citizens only to have a confirmed hotel reservation. It will be only valid if the purpose of the trip is tourism.
Among the innovations is also an increase in the maximum allowed period of stay of foreign tourists in the Russian Federation from one month to six. If the bill is adopted, amendments to the rules for issuing visas will cone into force in April 2020. For more details please contact our lawyers.
